Reported by bill on the Wall:

Problem:
Some users don't correct the sentences that they translated or added. I think they don't even know that someone left a comment on their sentence suggesting some corrections.

Solution:
Display a notification icon on the user's profile page or at the top of the page with the number of new comments.

Ithink we should do this in two steps (maybe based on the IP the user is contributing from)

1st - Just pop up something like "We need correct sentences. Please, do not forget punctuation and capitalization" add/or write some tips for them.

2nd - After some contributions, the 1st page that would be displayed is the one which displays the comments on his/her messages and pop up - Some people have posted on your sentences. Perhaps you should take a look/review your sentences and help to make Tatoeba better for everyone.

I'm not sure if I like the idea, but one simple approach to doing this would be to send a private message to the member who owns the sentence each time a comment is made on one of his/her sentences, minus the comments left by the duplicate-merging script.

The private messaging system is already set up to show a number in the navigation bar.

One problem is that this may get to be very irritating to those of us who own a lot of sentences, since many comments on sentences are not related to making corrections.

If you decided to use this approach, I think members should have an option to opt out in their settings.
Perhaps by default, it should be off and members have to choose to opt in. If you did that, you could probably very easily set this up for members who wanted this.

If we could somehow split comments up into (1) comments on suggested corrections and (2) other comments, then perhaps more members would consider opting in to receiving notices about corrections.

Another case of why user may not correct their mistakes, reported by CK in #808 (comment)

The problem is that for those of us with lots of sentences, the comments suggesting corrections get mixed in with a lot of general comments and unrelated discussions, so they get overlooked.
