Description of the issue

We have the following inferred structure of liquid combustion fuels.
grafik

All of these are "pure" fuels. But there are also blended fuels like E10 (90 % gasoline + 10% ethanol from biogasoline) or B7 (93 % fossil diesel fuel + 7 % biodiesel). A special challenge regarding blended fuels will be their origins.

Ideas of solution

If you already have ideas for the solution describe them here

Workflow checklist

  • I discussed the issue with someone else than me before working on a solution
  • I already read the latest version of the workflow for this repository
  • The goal of this ontology is clear to me

I am aware that

  • every entry in the ontology should have a definition
  • classes should arise from concepts rather than from words

Related to issue #1413 which has a proposal for a fuel blending quota.

Proposal for blended liquid fuel: A blended liquid fuel is a liquid fuel that contains a liquid fossil fuel and a liquid renewable fuel or a liquid biofuel.
Axiom: 'blended liquid fuel' EquivalentTo: 'has part' some ('liquid fossil fuel') and 'has part' some ('liquid biofuel' or 'liquid renewable fuel')

We can then also add the most important to fuel blends:

  • E10:
    • Definition: E10 is a gasoline fuel that consists of (fossil) gasoline and up to 10 % ethanol.
    • Axiom: 'has part' some gasoline and 'has part' some bioethanol
  • B7:
    • Definition: B7 is a diesel fuel that consists of fossil diesel fuel and up to 7 % biodiesel.
    • Axiom: 'has part' some gasoline and 'has part' some biodiesel

These two should then be inferred as subclasses of blended liquid fuel.

For E10 we need also to add bioethanol, but that is very simple:

  • Definition: Bioethanol is ethanol with a biogenic origin.
  • Axiom: bioethanol EquivalentTo: ethanol and 'has orgin' some biogenic

I am fine with the proposal. @l-emele do you want to implement? Else, you could assign @viktorwichern
