The study utilizes integrated risk assessment methods and emerging best practices of risk governance to develop a more holistic and empowering view of earthquake risk in Canada. It extends the scope of probabilistic seismic hazard models currently used to inform Canada’s National Building Code ([CanadaSHM6](https://github.com/OpenDRR/CanadaSHM6)) by introducing a structured framework of indicators that profile the immediate physical impacts and downstream socio-economic consequences of earthquake events at a neighborhood scale for settled areas across Canada. It considers only damage to buildings, and their inhabitants, from earthquake shaking, and therefore does not include damage to critical infrastructure or vehicles. Losses from secondary hazards, such as aftershocks, liquefaction, landslides, or fire following are also not currently included. | ||
