gridded has been put together from pyugrid, pysgrid, and a bunch of other code, some from py_gnome.

As a result, we have an inconsistent internal API -- different names for the same thing in different classes, the whole "pysgrid" and "pyugrid" sub-packages with a lot of similar code written in different ways, where there could be shared code, etc.

And shouldn't they be called simply sgrid and ugrid ?

it would be nice to have a version 2.0 that was all cleaned up in this regard.
