[Affected Versions]:

  • Firefox Reality 1.4-32352315
  • Firefox Reality 1.4-32382105

[Affected Platforms]:

  • Oculus Go - Android 7.1.2
  • Oculus Quest - Android 7.1.1
  • HTC Vive Focus Plus - Android 7.1.2

[Prerequisites]:

  • The headset is turned on and the browser is opened.

[Steps to reproduce]:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security
  2. In the "Firefox Reality Data Collection and Use" section enable the "Allow Firefox Reality to collect speech data" setting.
  3. Dismiss the menu.
  4. Click the "Voice Search" (microphone) button in the awesomebar.
  5. Observe the behaviour.

[Expected results]:

  • The pop up regarding speech data collection is not displayed
    [Actual results]:
  • The pop up regarding speech data collection is displayed, even though it is already allowed from settings.

[Notes]:

  • If data collection is not allowed the setting is not changed in the privacy settings, when the "Voice Search" button is pressed again the pop up reappears.

I have verified that this issue is no longer reproducible with the latest Firefox Reality 1.4-32400804 installed on the Oculus Go and Quest headset.
Now, the speech data collection pop up is wrongly displayed after clicking the microphone button even if the option is already enabled from settings.
