Synopsis

This is a PowerShell module that provides a set of cmdlets to create and manage Azure Landing Zones.

This module provides a set of cmdlets to create and manage Azure Landing Zones.

Why

The goal of this project it is to make easy to get started with Azure Landing Zones and to speed up some basic tasks that you would need to perform whilst managing your Azure Landing Zones.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

In order to use this module you will need PowerShell 7.1 or higher.

Installation

You can install this module using PowerShellGet.

Install-Module -Name ALZ

Update

Whenever a new release from the module has been released, you can update it easily. The changelog can be found here.

# find out which version you have installed
PS C:\Users\you> Get-InstalledModule -Name ALZ

Quick start

Before you start you can utilize the functionality of the module to verify if you have all the prerequisites installed with the built in command.

Bicep

Test-ALZRequirement -IaC "bicep"

Currently this tests for:

• Supported minimum PowerShell version (7.1)
• Supported minimum Az PowerShell module version (10.0.0)
• Git
• Azure CLI
• Bicep
• Visual Studio Code

Terraform

Test-ALZRequirement -IaC "terraform"

This currently tests for:

• Supported minimum PowerShell version (7.1)
• Git
• Azure CLI
• Terraform CLI

Azure Landing Zone Environment with Bicep and GitHub Actions Workflows

New-ALZEnvironment -o <output_directory> -IaC "bicep" -cicd "github

Azure Landing Zone Environment with Bicep and Azure DevOps Pipelines

New-ALZEnvironment -o <output_directory> -IaC "bicep" -cicd "azuredevops"

Note Azure Devops Pipelines are only supported in v0.2.6 or later.

Azure Landing Zone Environment with Terraform and GitHub Pipelines

New-ALZEnvironment -o <output_directory> -IaC "terraform" -cicd "github"

Azure Landing Zone Environment with Terraform and Azure DevOps Pipelines

New-ALZEnvironment -o <output_directory> -IaC "terraform" -cicd "azuredevops"

Additional Cmdlets

Update an existing Azure Landing Zone Environment

Downloads and pulls down the specified release version from the remote GitHub repository to a local directory

Get-ALZGithubRelease -githubRepoUrl "https://github.com/Azure/ALZ-Bicep" -releases "v0.14.0" -directoryForReleases "C:\Repos\ALZ\accelerator\upstream-releases\"

Development

Development Prerequisites

In order to develop this module you will need PowerShell 7.1 or later.

Pre-requisites

Commands to build locally

# Build and test locally
Remove-Module "ALZ" -Force
Invoke-Build -File .\src\ALZ.build.ps1

Commands to import a build locally

# Install the module locally
Invoke-Build -File .\src\ALZ.build.ps1
Import-Module .\src\Artifacts\ALZ.psd1 -Force
