Yuji (佑字)

“Yuji” are 5 series of fonts in which the original characters written by the calligrapher Yuji Kataoka are typefaced. There are 3 different types of Kana and 2 different types of Hentai kana (the former style of kana) fonts. Lern more.

Yuji “Syuku” (佑字【肅】)

It has tradition and dignity, but is also approachable. This design can be widely accepted by the general public. Kanji characters and some symbols are the same as Mai and Boku.

Yuji “Mai” (佑字【舞】)

It expresses a free, unrestrained, emotional beauty. The Latin alphabets were written to match the kana strokes.

Yuji “Boku” (佑字【朴】)

It is a new and joyful design. It has both simplicity and warmth.

Yuji “Akari” (佑字【灯】)

Yuji “Akebono” (佑字【曙】)

The current Hiragana was prescribed in 1900. The rest of characters, which hadn’t been elected as Hiragana, are called Hentai kana. There are several types of Hentai kana, and Akari and Akebono are two of them. Katakana is not included in Hentai kana. Latin alphabets are designed only in capital letters. The lower-case letters are in small caps.

Building the fonts

Requirements

To build the binary font files from source, you need to have the fontTools, glyphsLib, ufo2ft, and ufoLib2 libraries.
