Hello, I have the similar issue with debian package from http://builds.jabref.org/master/.
The master with date 08.03.2020 has version 5.0.42-1 which is lower than 5.0.30466-1 I already have. Thus It's only a warning message of dpkg

Please uninstall the beta version manually and then install the new version. We need to investigate our GitVersion setup at https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/blob/master/GitVersion.yml.

It should be noted that -beta appears in the reported version strings, but me made a release after the beta.

Maybe the new weight in GitVersion.yml is wrong (see https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/wiki/Releasing-a-new-Version#prepare-for-next-version for a description of our procedure).

That means, before the release, we had 5.0.30516, at the release 5.0.50001 and now we have 5.0.44 (which is lower). It seems that the "minor" version segment was not increased after the release.

That means, our assumption that GitVersion handles the tag v5.0 right, was wrong.
