Minutes

1. Making note that the Call for Proposals is up now. Also the list of community generated workshop ideas to vote on as well.
2. deCLAWing
   • Thoughts on how we move away from the CLAW branding.
   • Move to Islandora 8 or does CLAW have a lot of branding.
   • Can we use CLAW as a product name.
   • The image that the word CLAW gives some people in a broader context to the product may not be favourable. Decision makers at a higher level might not appreciate the name when compared to some other vendors.
   • We don't want to silo the products, Islandora 7 -> Islandora 8 is better for people to accept.
   • It gets in to code and can cause long term confusion.
   • Fedora is going through this right now with Fedora 4 -> 5 -> 6.
   • We should decouple from the Drupal version as there are going to be more versions of Drupal and coming more quickly.
   • Can we call it 8.x to match with the current 7.x names
   • We are tied to Drupal for our modules so we should follow the naming scheme.
   • Some parts of Islandora CLAW will not need to be released at the same time (ie. Alpaca) so we may need to consider a set of versions.
   • Do Drupal distributions use the same naming scheme or is it de-coupled and open to our own choice?
   • Good to tie to some form of versioning as early as possible.
   • Are we okay with something loosely tied to Drupal. ie. Islandora 8 version 1.0.
   • From the librarian perspective, having version numbers that make sense in a orderly form helps people understand.
   • We should clarify the old planned 8.x-2.x versions if we diverge from it.
   • Need to clearly define what the version is for people. Islandora 8 is name, version is different.
   • Does semantic versioning have a requirement or can we specify other bits.
   • What about Github? We need to change the Islandora-CLAW organization. Also as CLAW will be the version of Islandora we need to consider whether it should be the one located at https://github.com/Islandora/islandora
3. Issue Round-up
   1. Video transcripts feature request. Currently using WebVTT in 7.x. Keep HTML 5 and videojs players which support WebVTT. Is there another player we really want that doesn't support WebVTT. Current videojs module doesn't support text.
   2. Needs review, just changes from a string to an actual type. But the type wraps an existing string. Need to uninstall and then install or import the feature.
   3. This needs more 👀 to review it. Also we would like thumbnails for videos and then PDFs and on and on.
   4. We are not applying the correct RDF type for the "type of resource" field. So currently everything is going out as a pcdm:Object. This should be low hanging.
   5. If you have translations in and generate a derivative. We need to get the correct URL, not sure how we deal with this. It is not storing the file in the correct place so it is probably a Flysystem problem.
   6. This is pulled out of the video derivatives PR, but is a small and simple way. There are instructions in the PR and see how we are currently sending too many events.
