Important announcement for whocalled.us users

The Superfecta development team has recently started investigating the prospect of using the whocalled.us website for spam scoring. This site assigns and reports a "score" for each DID representing how many times a report has been filed against that number. Due to the nature of the site and its users, most of these filed reports tend to be complaints of a spam nature, and as such, the whocalled score generally represents a spam score.

Unfortunately, early coders of the Superfecta project either didn't realize (or could not have predicted), that the whocalled.us score would one day be interpreted as a spam score, and have given users the ability to report back all numbers regardless of whether they are spam or not. Extensive use of the report back feature would result in high whocalled.us scores which we now realize, could be interpreted as high spam scores that could trigger a false spam positive.

We recommend that all users immediately disable the report back function for this lookup source until the devs have had a chance to revise the code around this feature. Any users who rely on this feature, or make extensive use of it, are strongly encouraged to contact anyone associated with the project to discuss the issue.

Edit: August 28, 2012

Starting in Superfecta version 2.2.6, the who called lookup module has had the report back feature disabled. Users who require this feature can manually edit the file /var/www/html/admin/modules/superfecta/bin/source-Who_Called.php and re-enable the lines that have been commented out.
