Shortcut Tag Style Guide

Courtney Stanton edited this page Oct 12, 2017 · 9 revisions

This page is mostly an explanation for why Shortcut's tag colors change seasonally.

A Tiny Bit of Theory

We're not going to Get Into It, but GitHub's default tag colors...could be better. Also, the human eye grows tired and likes to be surprised, which is why things like color trends exist in the first place. In the interest of pulling in information from a diversity of experts, Team Shortcut uses the Pantone Color Institute's seasonal Fashion Color Reports and ColorBrewer 2.0 as tag color sources. Tag colors are changed on a Spring/Summer, Autumn/Winter schedule, just like fashion.

(Note: yes, GitHub calls tags "labels". ¯_(ツ)_/¯)
