@strepanier03 I haven't added the External label as I wasn't 100% sure about this issue. Please take a look and add the label if you agree it's a bug and can be handled by external contributors. |
We think this issue might be related to the #collect project. |
ProposalPlease re-state the problem that we are trying to solve in this issue.Incorrect error message when distance amount is changed to smaller amount What is the root cause of that problem? The Line 2878 in 573d989
What changes do you think we should make in order to solve the problem? We will change the modifiedAmount violation to the OldDot style message: Line 2878 in 573d989
modifiedAmount: 'Expense amount differs from the calculated distance amount' we will also change |
Okay testing now, one sec. |
I'm unable to repro. Changing the amount to smaller or larger doesn't produce any error message as shown in the video. Will try a few more times to repro. |
I've lost the ability to edit the amount of the distance expense, not sure what changed but I'm stuck at the moment. I need to shift focus to some other testing so I'll circle back on this. |
Violations are still in beta and this is not breaking any functionality, I'm going to remove the blocker label. /cc @Krishna2323 @cead22, this sounds like it could potentially come from #37813 but I haven't double-checked. |
@francoisl, yes, you are correct, it's related to this PR. However, I believe this is probably a backend issue. The notice violations shouldn't be thrown when the request is of type 'distance.' @cead22 @JmillsExpensify, can you please confirm? |
I'm seeing the same. I think @Krishna2323 is right about the violation we're returning, but I haven't figured out what part of the code is wrong 🤔 |
Ok, the code is right and calculating a modifiedAmount violation for the distance expense, but
|
I can now edit the amount again but the error doesn't populate at all when making a change to the amount, whether its larger or smaller. |
Issue not reproducible during KI retests. (Second week) |

Issue reported by: Applause-Internal team
Action Performed:
Expected Result:
The error message should correctly reflect the difference in the new amount.
It should follow Old Dot style where it shows "Expense amount differs from the calculated distance amount",
Actual Result:
When the distance amount is manually changed to the lower amount, the error message is "Amount greater than scanned receipt", which is generic and untrue.
