This wiki aims to give users and potential users of adv3Lite the information they need to decide whether adv3Lite may be for them, and if so how they can obtain it, use it, and, if they so wish, contribute to it. Further content may follow in due course.
Adv3Lite is a library of software modules, written in the TADS 3 language, for use with the TADS 3 Interactive Fiction authoring system. For what this means in more detail, see the What adv3Lite is For page.
The origin, aims and design principles underlying adv3Lite are discussed on the Design Aims page.
If you're interested in trying adv3Lite or in updating your current version, you may wish to refer to the Installing and Using Adv3Lite page. Or you can download the latest version of adv3Lite (1.6.2) from GitHub. If so, you may wish to create an adv3Lite folder under your TADS 3/extensions folder to copy the files into (or else delete the contents of your existing adv3Lite folder and then extract the contents of the Dropbox zipfile into there).
Adv3Lite comes with an abundant selection of reference and tutorial documentation, but if you need help on getting started with learning how to use the system you can consult the Learning adv3Lite page.
You may then find it helpful to look at the Cloak of Darkness listing, either as a learning exercise, or simply to see what a short game implemented in adv3Lite looks like. Cloak of Darkness is a kind of Interactive Fiction equivalent of a "hello world" program, although it does a little more than that analogy suggests.
For guidance on submitting bug reports, feature requests, and potential code fixes to adv3Lite, please see the Contributing page.
Finally, ad3Lite users thinking of updating to (or trying out) the latest 1.6 beta may wish to view the Change log to see what's changed since the previous (v 1.5) release.
