Hydra-NL manual exceedance frequency extraction

Documentation on how to extract data manually from Hydra-NL. The process is quite manual and the idea is to replace this with a Hydra-RING Python API that will be developed in 2024.

1. Hydra-NL desktop app installation. Contact Karolina Wojciechowska for installation details and to get last Hydra-NL version. It is also available via STACK - BOI Software/Hydra-NL v2.8.2

2. Open Hydra-NL in Beoordelingsmodus.
   

3. Explore and load a database of a region of interest by selecting Randvoorwaarden>Beheren>Toevoegen
   

A database of the area of interest can be downlaoded in .sqlite format from STACK - HR Databases. The files are spread over the folders Toets (eenvoudig tm gedetailleerd), Toets op Maat and Ontwerp Databases. In this example we use Toets (eenvoudig tm gedetailleerd)\Kust\09_waddenzee_oost\WBI2017_Waddenzee_Oost_6-7_v03.zip\WBI2017_Waddenzee_Oost_6-7_v03.sqlite. Visit Map images (waterveiligheidsportaal.nl) to know more about the areas of interest names.

If added successfully, the database can be visualized in the Randvoorwaarden window.

4. Visualize area of interest by selecting the database in the map using the scroll down area of interest menu.
   

5. Select the point of interest to generate exceedance water level. Move, zoom in and select with the top left home screen tools: .
   

6. Calculate exceedance water level by selecting Berekening>Start dijkvakberekening. Assing a name for the calculation in Naam berekening and for the saved excel file in Naam overzichtbestand. In this case, excedance_water_level_6-7. Ensure to check Resultaren naar overzichtbestand schrijven box
   

To define exceedance frequencies go to Parameters in the Start dijkvakberekening window and change Frequenties settings. Frequencie years are only available for 10 – 1000000 range.

Press OK in the parameters window, and then Start in the Start dijkvakberekening window to compute excedance water levels for the selected point of interest.
