Cataclysm: Horizon is an offline 3d visualizer and real time map viewer for your C:DDA maps.

The world of C:DDA is vast and detailed. However, the game itself only allows the player to witness a small fraction of it at a time. This application remedies that by rendering your map into a huge 3d scene and allowing you to view entire landscapes all at once. The size of the visible scene is only limited by your RAM and GPU capabilities.

The 2d nature of the in-game renderer sometimes makes it hard to get a grasp of tall buildings. Horizon draws buildings fully in 3d, giving you a more intuitive grasp of their three dimensional layout. In combination with the Undead People Tileset, cities now take on a lifelike form reminiscent of 3d city planning games like Cities: Skylines.

You can even explore buildings from the inside. At the moment, though, furniture and objects are not yet rendered, making buildings feel a bit empty.

Are you curious how your character might perceive the world around them? Zoom in closer to the ground level and witness what your character might see. The outline of tall buildings towering in the distance might entice you to go and explore.

Instructions

Simply download the executable from the releases page. If you're not on a supported system, check out the README for build instructions. Once the application has loaded, you can select a tileset and a map directory and get going. The Undead People Tileset is highly recommended for an optimal experience.

Presets

Horizon supports a variety of presets influencing the render distance. Higher presets will require a more powerful GPU, as well as larger amounts of memory.

Cache

The cache option keeps map data loaded into memory, even when unloaded from the renderer itself. Use this option if you have a lot of memory available (32GB and up recommended).
