I guess that this bug is specific to Waterfox on Linux …

Steps

  1. Extract the 20191015002329 build of Waterfox Classic to a suitably named directory
  2. extract the 20191015121210 build of Waterfox Current to a separate directory
  3. use the command line to start Waterfox Classic
  4. quit
  5. use the command line to start Waterfox Current
  6. re: (3) reuse the command for Waterfox Classic

Expected

  1. Waterfox Classic

Actual result

  1. nothing (the application does not start, and there's nothing at the command line to explain why).

Meta, tracking: #538

Screen recording

The first part of this recording – ending (a pause of the recorder) around 01:51 on the timeline – is mind-bending. Possible PEBKAM; I wonder whether I had accidentally extracted an outdated beta of Current to the directory for Classic.

In the next part of the recording, both directories are emptied before fresh installation (extraction) of the files.
