Welcome to the i3PlusPlus wiki!
- Download files from the latest release from the releases page
If you want to build and upload from source you can follow the directions on the Building and Uploading the Printer Firmware page.
Otherwise here is what you do:
- Turn on your printer
- Connect your printer to your computer via USB
- Flash the firmware using one of the following options
- Go to
Configuration -> Flash printer firmware
- Click "Browse" nest to the "Firmware image" box and select the
i3PlusPlus_X.X.X.hex
file - Select the serial port for your printer
- Click "Flash!"
- Go to
Machine
and add your i3 Plus if you have not already - Go to
Machine -> Install custom firmware
- Select the
i3PlusPlus_X.X.X.hex
file - Click "Open"
- Get a microSD card and format it to FAT-32 with 4096 bytes for the sector size
- Copy the contents of the LCDFirmware directory to the root of the SD card. (Note: This needs to be just the contents of the folder. Do not copy the LCDFirmware folder itself)
- Turn off your printer if it is on
- Remove the front panel of your printer by removing all the bolts on the face of it. This does include the ones holding the Y bed rods in place
- Gently pull the panel forward so you can get to the side of the LCD screen. On the left side of it there is an SD card slot that you should have access to via a cutout in the box around it. If you do not, just remove the box around the screen by removing the 4 bolts that hold it on
- Insert the SD card into the LCD screen
- Turn your printer on
- The screen will start flashing images after a few seconds and will continue to run through some for a while. The screen will stay solid white or grey when it is done
- Turn your printer off
- Remove the SC card
- Re-affix everything you removed to get to this point
- Restart your printer and you should see a new boot animation
