GUI: Quickstart

The Quickstart panel allows you to get started with a few basic options quickly, without having to go through every panel for basic settings. It will use some sensible defaults based on your options here, instead.

• The Amiga model dropdown, allows you to select the model you want to emulate. Typically, the A500 was the most common model for old games and demos, and the A1200 is needed to emulate newer, "AGA" ones. There are of course other models available for you to choose from. These options change the default settings for the hardware emulated, such as CPU, RAM, Chipset etc.
• Config: for each model selected, there are a few preset configurations to help you get started quickly. The Amiga 500 for example, was most commonly used with a 512KB expansion RAM (which meant 512KB + 512KB), so there's an option that sets that up for you. Similarly with the other models, you will find different configurations depending on the model.

Below that, are the floppy drive options. The Amiga supported up to a total of 4 floppy drives, but the most common configuration was either 1 (the built-in one) or 2 (built-in plus an external one), so those are the options visible here. You can configure some basic options regarding the type of the floppy drive, with the defaults being the most common again, and also insert (or eject) a floppy image file in any of them as well.

Floppy images are files in any of the supported formats: .adf, .adz, .fdi, .ipf, .zip, .dms, .gz, .xz, .scp

• Start in Quickstart mode: If this checkbox is enabled, then Amiberry will show this page (Quickstart) by default, when the GUI opens up. If you disable it, the default panel will be Configurations, instead.

• Set Configuration: You can use this button to apply the settings you have selected above, immediately. Useful if you've been making changes and they haven't been applied yet.

Also in this panel, and unique to Amiberry, are a few options regarding loading pre-installed .lha packs that use the WHDLoad-booter:

• Similar to the floppy drive, you can insert or eject an .lha file here.

If you insert an .lha file, Amiberry will trigger the auto-detection mechanism to try and find a match for the game you added in the WHDLoad-XML. If a match is found, then it will consult the XML to adapt the emulator settings according to the "best-known" configuration included there. All you have to do afterwards, is Start the emulation and enjoy.
