Detailed results

All benchmarks are run on txs on the Benchmarking contract on the repository. Each tx consists of a batch call to create_note and increment_balance, which guarantees that each tx has a private call, a nested private call, a public call, and a nested public call, as well as an emitted private note, an unencrypted log, and public storage read and write.

Summarising our current list of qs:

• Does simulate work for both private and public execution?
• What does prove do when using it to make a public fn call (started with a private entrypoint)?
• Should send simulate both private and public (currently it doesn’t)?
• What AztecJS function is used to simulate a public/private static call?
• Is it confusing to have both top level unconstrained and #[aztec(static_call)]?

They are different concepts, and cannot really be the same thing. I don't imagine we'd be able to get rid of what I here calld top level unconstrained.
