2. Science/Software

2.1 Check for new APSIM Major Improvements

GitHub MAJOR science issues

@Keith-Pembleton called for additional issues to be discussed. Noted that only issues on agenda will be reviewed during the meeting. Request for @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel to review all issues prior to the meeting and add to agenda if required.

@Keith-Pembleton noted only a couple of new ones have been added this month.. Also reviewed the recently updated issues.

Actions:
Red Clover – Action: request @rcichota to push into release.

GitHub ALL science issues

@Keith-Pembleton noted all new science issues were minor.

Soil documentation
No current documentation. But new Soil Nutrient model to replace this, but will keep this for some time. Action: Add reference to APSIM Classic documentation.

Discussion on porting weather from APSIM Classic to APSIM Next Gen. Should this be stand along or integrated to MicroMet?. Action: Commence an issue in GitHub and discuss.

2.2 Updates from RP on models and reviews

Models under development

No new models under development since last RP meeting

• Sorghum model - @jbrider – update provided. Preparing documentation. Awaiting on Graeme and Greg for some science updates.
  RP suggested @hut104 as a reviewer when ready.

Models currently under review

• AgPasture
  @sno036 – will aim for response to review before next meeting
• Creating of New Soil Nutrient Model
  @sno036 – has started the review but has found some issues around Nitrogen leaching. Reviewing with data.

3 Software

APSIM Classic - Move to continuous release - #15 relates to
Bootleg Version - APSIMInitiative/APSIM710#1757 and APSIMInitiative/APSIM710#1759

@hol353 – provided an update – Issues with migrating – WIP.

Labels for APSIM Initiative Issues

It was noted that administering labels would be a significant burden. RP reviewed purpose - to enable users to better engage with GitHub on issues that are relevant to them. Preferably get sense email notifications.
Labels are not the answer - in most cases can use the search bar. Setting up labels for things for non-searchable terms like winter cereals, legumes, would not result in notifications. Someone would need to set up the labels and continually monitor this - not a good use of time.

Agreed to utilise the team structure. Limit to a small number of teams, at least initially, to see how it works.

ACTION: Try max 5 teams initially. @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel to nominate teams in GitHub issue (by 11/10). Subscribe, join the teams you want.
In each team, RP team members to tag team in to new and existing issues. If not complete, will ask @hol353 and @hol430 to help tag relevant issues

4 Outstanding Actions

19/20 APSIM Development Plan - #36

ACTION: @sarahcleary to share an APSIM Folder via OneDrive. This folder to contain development plan spreadsheet. @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel to update and feedback if there are any issues with accessing spreadsheet.

5 Training

@Keith-Pembleton provided an update - one more video has been recorded. @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel comfortable with @hol353 reviewing video

APSIM online training topics

Discussion on requirements on online topics. @sno036 suggested tutorial style for sensitivity analysis.
Need to transition the basic training from APSIM 7.10 to APSIM Next Gen.

ACTION: @sarchontoulis, @Keith-Pembleton and @hol353 to discuss the migration of the training materials

Update on APSIM Week

• EOI update - will be transitioning to the registration process within the next week, Working on the communications for the new website and the registration process.

• Potential Facilitators for APSIM Advanced Training workshops - Potential Facilitators for APSIM Advanced Training workshops #33

@sarahcleary to distribute a suggested run sheet for the workshops and distribute for input

ACTION: @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel to feedback into the workshop order/facilitators.

6 Website/Communications

@sarahcleary ran through new website. Request to add an additional page "How to partner with us"

Request @APSIMInitiative/reference-panel to provide review and feedback by 11/10. Also, request to forward any references for models in Next Gen.

Science Chats

@peter-devoil to provide update on APSIMX Crop rotations manager in November RP Meeting
