Installation

Linux

If you are using linux follow the steps bellow:

  1. Download the latest iso from the releases tab here
  2. Download balenaEtcher.
  • Note: This guide will show you how to flash the iso using balenaEtcher since it's pretty easy to use but you can use any other iso writing tool.
  1. Open balenaEtcher > Click on Flash from file , select the downloaded iso > Click on Select target, and select the usb drive you want to write to > Click on Flash.

Once the iso has been written you will have to find the newly created partition called COWMOS. After that you have two options:

  1. Create a new configuration using xmrig's config wizard, and save it into COWMOS, or just paste your current xmrig configuration file

  2. Mine with P2Pool (decentralized pool mining), follow this guide

Windows

If you are using windows this will be a bit more complex.

These are the steps you have to follow

  1. Download the latest iso from the releases tab here
  2. Download balenaEtcher.

Note: This guide will show you how to flash the iso using balenaEtcher since it's pretty easy to use but you can use any other iso writing tool.

  1. Open balenaEtcher > Click on Flash from file , select the downloaded iso > Click on Select target, and select the usb drive you want to write to > Click on Flash.

After that you will have to create a new NTFS partition to do that follow the steps bellow:

  1. Open Create and format hard disk partitions. By just clicking the windows key and typing partitions
  2. Find your USB, should look something like this:
  3. On the unallocated box, right click and select New Simple Volume
  4. Click on Next
  5. Select the desired size of the new partition (should be at least 20mb) . Click Next
  6. Assign any letter .Click Next
  7. In the format partition, select Format this volume with the following settings. In the File system select NTFS and in the Volume label type MoneroOS-NTFS. Then click Next and Finish

Now if you open your file manager you should see a device called MoneroOS-NTFS followed by the drive letter you assigned. Now you have two choices

  1. Create a new configuration using xmrig's config wizard, and save it there, or just paste your current xmrig configuration file

  2. Mine with P2Pool (decentralized pool mining), follow this guide

Then restart your machine with the usb plugged in, and boot into MoneroOS

  • Note: While the exact instructions vary from system to system, this is generally done by pressing either F8, F9, F10, or F11 directly after you power on your system. If none of these work, use your preferred search engine to find out how to boot from USB on your specific system.

  • Note: if while booting to MoneroOS you get stuck in some booting text just press enter two times

Once you have booted into MoneroOS you will be asked whether or not you want to copy all the data from the ntfs partition. Click yes

That should start everything.

Happy mining
