zOS Subsystem not working

This error was seen on 0.9.0, 0.9.1 and 0.9.3 for me. When I open zOS Subsystem from Zowe desktop, I got message "JSON.parse: unexpected end of data at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data." In Zowe joblog, saw following errors

I think this application on Zowe desktop should be working without any configuration. Not sure why it's failed in our environment. Appreciates if you can take a look and help us fixing it. Many thanks!

This has changed a lot since 1.0.0 since it depends on ZSS which split into a multi-process design. We'll revisit it when we look towards reintroduction of zos-subsystems into the standard release, but I don't see this happening until sometime after 1.1
