Running cargo-deb on a freshly cloned zed repo creates a .deb package that installs zed under /usr/bin I wouldn't mind taking a look adding this step as a GitHub action for example, if that's something the project would be interest in 😃

For the initial prototype, there's been a similar deb generator used in #8913, so most of the CI changes would be very close to the relevant changes in the PR.

No no appimage this is the worse way to install app in linux as this does not provide any sandboxing and unlike .deb .rpm this contains all binary so it is just wate of storage and ram.
