Widget descriptions should not use verbs. Currently, all of the new widgets start with "displays," while all existing widgets but one skip the verb (ex. "A calendar that displays your latest posts"). They should be changed to, for example, "An image from your media library or a URL." Note that this same issue was previously fixed for the single media widget.
I ran this by @michelleweber, one of our Automattic editors, and she disagrees — she actually feels the opposite, that all the widget descriptions should start with a verb so the description describes what the widget does. (She also pointed out custom menu also starts with a verb.)
I think the verb is more clear, but I'm also struggling between “should we follow standards and then change the standards later” or “should we change the standards here and then apply it to everything else later.”
