my mysql on unix did not start, due to missing skip-grant-tables

when I tried to use mysqlstart on unix, the DB did not start, with no coherent error message.
When I tried to start it myself on cmd line, I got an error that told me i had to add skip-grant-tables to /etc/my.cnf. Since this file has root permissions, I do not know how to do it from your plugin or from gradle. Any help here?
