As of now one can save the desired selection manually via a cookie. This is a result of my uncertainty about EU cookie laws.

Check EU Cookie Law (ePrivacy Directive)
Add cookie autosave after en- or disabling a character
Add 2nd manual cookie save slot
Add welcome message displaying potentially saved cookies
