This happens from latest versions of Ubuntu, to Mint, to whatever I've tried.

There is a very serious font rendering issue.

I think it's time for it to be addressed.

I really beg someone to look into it, for the project's sake.

This issue is already fixed on master. It will be fixed once we do a new release. We have to fix a few security issues in dependencies and then we can do a release.
