Trying to archive a youtube video page, but quality is always very low even though the video is available in all kind of resolutions.
Is there a way to force a higher resolution? or is this an issue with the debugging mode of chrome?
Would it be feasible to integrate, as a "postprocessing step", but still in browsertrix, to save to the wacz, something like yt-dlp to preserve the best quality available?

While not directly answering your question for browsertrix, there is an off-the-shelf solution tubearchivist for your use-case. Quoting from their docs:
Go through the settings page and look at the available options. Particularly set Download Format to your desired video quality before downloading
