Hi,
I am using Vuepress 0.8.4 and I am following the guide in https://vuepress.vuejs.org/guide/getting-started.html
I have put '# Hello VuePress' in readme.md. But I got the following string in my chrome

# Hello VuePress

Have you tried opening readme.md on your notepad? See if you see the weird characters too? If there is then, fixing it there in notepad should fix the problem.

Looks like your file is in non utf-8 encoding. just using the utf-8 in notepad can fix your problem.

It was a coding issue. My windows 10 uses utf-16 by default. Thank you all.
