Hey Vincent,

Thanks for the outstanding player. Really love it!
Use mostly for Soundcloud stream playing.

But somehow I've faced with 2 quite strange issues. Could you assist me, please?

  1. After some period of stand by, when the particular track was paused - it could be 10-20 minutes - when I'm resuming the play process, it could play for 5-10 seconds, and then just by itself even the track is not over yet, it starts playing the next track in the queue. Just automatically 🤔 How this could be fixed?

  2. After some period of listening Soundcloud through Harmony player (like 2-3 hours or so, during the particular session), my Fn media keys just stop working at all. Like, Fn+Pause, Fn+Next track etc.

I'm on Elementary OS Juno 5.0, having the latest Harmony player version.

Really looking forward to your assistance with this.

Thank you!

Hey,
For the first issue, I believe the problem is Soundcloud stream links are expiring after a few minutes. So when you resume, it plays what's cached and then fails to fetch the rest, so zaps the song.
Maybe you could try enabling the "Next track caching" in the settings to have a more aggressive caching behaviour.

For the media keys, maybe some other program on your computer takes precedence on it? This could be a video player for example. Hard to say like this.

Cheers,
Vince

Hey Vincent,

Thanks for getting back regarding this.
Hm... didn't know Soundcloud stream links could expire so quickly.
OK, I've enabled the "Next tracking caching" option - didn't work out though.
Could you advise something else perhaps?

For the media keys, maybe some other program on your computer takes precedence on it?

This was the first thing I've checked in System Monitor. But actually, such behavior occurs when no other multimedia app was launched within the particular user session (no Spotify, VLC or whatsoever).

My suspicion, in fact, lies on the very Elementary OS. Since I remember similar behavior with Fn media keys for other multimedia apps before.

Looking forward to your thoughts in the first issue :)

Thank you!

Cheers!

Hey!
Sorry, I don't really see any other alternative to improve this, except a better network condition :/
The "next track caching" will load and improve the seeking of the next track from the one currently playing. But this is kinda an experimental feature and doesn't work all the time.

Hey Vince!

Thanks for coming back :)
Yeah, you're right "Next track caching" really improved the situation, however it works not all the time.
But what to do :)

Hello,
I do have the same problem but with all the streams I have : spotify, deezer, youtube and local.
the player do not even play the song and is immediately skipping to the next, indefinitely...
I have the problem since I bought the license.. Could that be related ?
I'm on windows 10, 64b and have the latest harmony player version.

Looking forward your assistance,
thank you for your time,

Floriane

Hi @floshh, weird that it happens even with local files. I don't see why it would be related to having a license.
Is there any error showing up in the logs? You can show the logs with Ctrl/cmd + alt + i and go to the 'console' tab.
