Seeing vote comments requires a hover, which can’t be done as far as I’m aware on touch.

For Twitter votes this isn’t a problem as one can tap through to the user profile where all votes including comments are visible. However for text or email votes added manually there is no profile, so tapping the icon does nothing, and the comment can’t be read.

thank you for raising this, it has bothered me for a while

i am not sure how best to approach fixing this. there's something fundamentally wrong with the way nkd.su surfaces additional request metadata; using mouse hover as the only way to access information is not acceptable. it also doesn't really make sense that clicking on a request takes you to a user page. perhaps this could be solved by:

  • having a request detail page, and
  • {something something touch event equivalent}

are you aware of any websites that attempt to present information analogous to what's in nkd.su's request tooltips that works well on mobile? i would like to steal their ideas

I don't 100% agree—you're clicking on a user icon rather than the request; similarly clicking on the artist name takes you to the artist page, etc.

The probably-smallest change, that I think I've seen elsewhere, is that on mobile a single tap surfaces the tooltip, and then a second tap takes you through to where a click would have taken you. I think I've seen this implemented well, but I don't remember where—old.reddit.com does a very bad implementation of it (where frequently a single tap opens the hover and clicks the link, and then on hitting Back the hover can't be dismissed so covers up other page content)

Not sure I've seen any other ways of presenting this kind of detail that I like. I suspect the "Web 2.0-y" way to do it would be to make each track much larger on the screen, and display the most recent requests vertically with comments visible and a "show more" button.

Bumping this as the new (?) carrier pigeon voter type understandably has the same issues. Fwiw I do find myself long-pressing in an attempt to read these messages on mobile, but whether that fits with how you want the website to work, I don't know.
