pdf-tools as previewer of WhizzyTeX

I am currently using the package whizzytex.el in Emacs, and I am applying it as a minor mode in latex major mode so that I can preview my latex code in real time. Whizzytex's default previewer is advi, and I would like to change advi to pdf-tools as whizzytex's default previewer. I've tried several options but none of them worked, so I'm looking for help on how to configure pdf-tools to be the default previewer for whizzytex? Any hints or suggestions will be quite appreciated. Thanks in advance.
