Error with check str_matches - object has no attribute 'startswith'

I have the following check: pdera.Check.str_matches(r"(^\d{10})\.0$|(^\d{9}\s*-\s*\d$)|(^(?:\d{3}[.-]){3}\d$)")

However, when I run the validation I get this Schema error case:
str_matches(re.compile('(^\\d{10})\\.0$|(^\\d{9}\\s*-\\s*\\d$)|(^(?:\\d{3}[.-]){3}\\d$)')) [AttributeError("'re.Pattern' object has no attribute 'startswith'")]

What am I doing wrong?

hi @sbs-mpadilla can you try passing in a string directly? under the hood pandera will compile it into a re expression.

Your check works fine on my machine. Can you post a sample of your dataframe and your schema?
