Slow refreshes

sometimes it takes too long between ui refreshes

as an example when testing #1076; the djc popped up correctly, from idp login page I got back to dspace login and then it started to feel like nothing is happening; but eventually I've ended on /home

Is this somehow tunable, should we add more resources (ram, cpu...)?
