Why is the "toolbar shortcut" feature seen in chrome missing?

In the proprietary chrome on android, there is a customisable "toolbar shortcut" feature that allows the addition of a New Tab button right on the toolbar. This seems missing from cromite, unfortunately. Does anyone know why?

no particular reason.
there is a patch that disables a kind of A.I. built into chromium (the "based of your usage" item), from memory that function is controlled by that library and the ui is probably tied to that.
today it is disabled because the library being used is a black box for me, I don't know anything about a.i., but I promise to investigate.
if you want, open an issue requesting activation of the ui part only.
i care little, so low priority, but maybe someone can help us.
