First, let me congratulate you and KOR for the great work. I’ll be a customer soon for the Travel and Hospitality Glossaries. Let me apologize in advance for late with comments/input on the UI.
Comments and observations on playing with the glossary, including testing links embedded in other apps (including MS Word)
The DIF team I’m on (Hospitality & Travel SIG) is in the process of producing documents that needs glossaries
Layman (people in the travel industry, who need terms and glossary definitions that match their industry/vocabulary)
Technical – (developers, SSI experts, data privacy) who need technical extensions to ToIP Technical glossary terms (or new terms)
I’d like to show them the ToIP glossary and am looking for the “public/user/consumer” vs. “developer interface”.
I call it a content provider interface as it’s focused on authors or curators, not someone looking for a term or word used in a term.
Coming to this today as a consumer (I have not used in while) wanting to explore the terms and attempt URLs to link to a specific term I find that:
Finding how to display the list of terms took me several minutes. I had to read the Table of Contents to the “Terms and Definitions”.
There is no information on how to use the user interface.
I have forgotten how to search for those terms who has the word or search text (e.g., verifiable) vs search for all terms that use the word
I find that entering a phrase in quotes “verifiable credential” results in zero/no hits, but verifiable credential (without quotes) works. Not intuitive.
No ability to search using AND, OR. Is that possible in docusauraus?
The “?” for any term/concept results in a 404 error (click to see the explanation of the buttons at the documentation web site, in a new tab)
Looks like a help button, but isn’t functional
I do recall conversations in the Terms and Concepts calls on additional assistance for “Consumers”/“Readers” which leads to a UI with the following features (see attached for image)
Ability switch be between UIs (consumer, contributor (author, developer)
Remove the write, see history and ? options from terms
The “?” explanation buttons result in a 404 error. Replace with a ? for the entire UI
Consumer UI
Remove the options to edit, see
Left panel is an index/list of terms/concepts
Allowing selection of a letter to jump to terms starting with that letter
If using a search, the list of terms/concepts will be a list of terms/concepts found by search
Help for a simple text or PDF file on how to use the interface (possibly move most of the current table of contents there
Search menu
Search for words or phrases (multi-word term) which
Match the word(s) in the term or phrase
Match the word(s) anywhere in the index (term, term definition, other descriptions)
Move the Issues item. If I move the cursor away from the search panel to type in a search term, it automatically pops up which I found I was constantly doing.
Thank you,
Neil Thomson
