Someone else has your issue it seems: ZoneMinder/zoneminder#678

Thanks. I spent a couple of hours at least investigating this problem, and if my memory serves me the subdirectory, i.e. zmswap-q822199, gets created but is almost immediately deleted by a zoneminder component. I'm inserting debug statements trying to analyze the problem.
