To add some context:

We are still sometimes receiving this kind of error which sometimes prevents docker from working on our ec2 based infra:

kernel:[103878.336081] unregister_netdevice: waiting for lo to become free. Usage count = 1

This issue is being tracked in moby/moby#5618 and coreos/bugs#254.

There are some promising comments that indicate the new 4.11 kernel may fix this issue.
