Override environment variable when using a list

I'm trying to create an override environment variable so that I can use an environment variable to set the resource namespace of a metric. Below is the snippet of yaml that I'm attempting to override. I'd like to replace the namespace value of value-to-be-overrided with the value from an environment variable. I tried name: PROMITOR_YAML_OVERRIDE_metrics__0__resources__0__namespace which didn't override the value.

metrics:
  - name: ogma_deadlettered_queue_size
    description: "Amount of deadlettered messages of the 'ogma' queue"
    resourceType: ServiceBusNamespace
    azureMetricConfiguration:
      metricName: DeadletteredMessages
      aggregation:
        type: Total
    resources:
      - namespace: value-to-be-overrided
        queueName: ogma

Is it possible to use the environment variables this way? What is doing the overriding of the yaml values?

@tomkerkhove i'll contribute to the documentation with a more complex example of how to use the OVERRIDE env var if you have any details or points on this!
At the least, what library is used to have the environment variable override the yaml value?

Thanks for getting back. I read over that page, but the example provided is very simple. In my first post I shared the yaml I'm working with. In that snippet, I'm trying to override the namespace value that is two lists deep in the structure. I tried using the environment variable approach explained in the documentation link you shared, but since it's a more complex case involving lists I wasn't able to get it working. I'm just looking to understand how I could use an environment variable to set that namespace value.
