i can't add any images from my album, only rage faces

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.start making a rage comic
2.get to the point where you have to add a picture from your phone 
3.get dissapointed,  because the app keeps saying 'there was an error loading 
your image'

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

In my dreams I see how I can add an image from my album - just like it says in 
the menu

What exact version of the app are you using?
The latest update.
On what Android version?
4.4.4
On what exact phone model?
Sony experia z1 compact
