org.mozilla.javascript.EcmaError: ReferenceError: "readFile" is not defined.

I am really confused by this because when I try it in rhino shell, using same jar, it works fine. Am I missing some key step? I tested gc(), too, just for fun, and it was also not working.

I am running jetty inside elasticsearch, if this makes a difference.
