Warning doesn't go away when switching to a different branch

When I first installed, the warning was always visible, so I figured I needed to restart VSCode to get it to work properly.

After restarting, the warning doesn't show up at all

Here's a screenshot of my VSCode window which is on the main branch, showing my settings.json

Adding "main*" to "branchwarnings.protectedBranches" worked.

The warning showed up when I added main*, but the original problem is still there.
When I swap to a different branch the warning does not go away again
