I understand and agree with the default version being v4.
But should there be a section which outlines how this API would look if we needed to add an additional version to the spec?

This is just to avoid painting yourself into a corner.

There's some discussion of this in #3.

Since there's substantial discussion on precisely this topic going on in #3 I will close this issue. Let's continue the discussion in #3.

Edit: And yes, I totally agree @jasonwilliams that this needs to be outlined in the proposal! So thanks for raising this again and feel free to join the discussion in the other issue.
