I am having trouble reproducing this. Maybe Android 4.0 only?
"I noticed that in Android 4 when going back to your Reddit app with the new task switcher, the comments page or main list reloads. However when hitting the back button from viewing a link, it works fine like expected, previous screen is the way I left it. There might be something new about the way the task launcher calls onResume() or something."
This happens to me on Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 with ADW launcher. I'm on an original motorola droid, the Android version is 2.3.7 and the kernel is 2.6.32.9-cm-stk. I could dump my ADW settings for you and post them here if that would help at all?
This also happens when loading a link within reddit is fun and then pressing the back button to go back to the comment thread.
I noticed this in older versions too but it did not happen as frequently as now.
I'm on android 2.3.* (kindle fire). When opening a link in an external browser and hitting back, the reddit list is reloaded. Even if the scrolling position in the reddit is restored correctly it takes some time to start reading again after each visited link. Its not really a bug to me but its kind of annoying to wait every time.
I noticed that it does not happen every time. When you open a link (in a external browser) and directly hit back again, the page is not reloaded. It seems to be related to the time rif is in the background if the page is reloaded or not.
Probably related to recent theme-switching code logic in onResume()
