Cross-osc sync #510
Comments
I think he just wants to be able to sync one oscillator to another, not relying on each oscillator's internal master sync sub-oscillator (the Sync slider). So, that'd be a button to make Osc 2 master for Osc 1, and another button to make Osc 3 master for Osc 2. I am not sure what he really meant by cross-osc-sync/ringmod. We already have ringmod in the mixer, 1x3, 2x3, There's only 1x3 missing, I suppose that could be easily added down the road. |
He left some further commentary: Yes, I mean syncing of OSC2<->OSC1, OSC1<->OSC3, OSC2<->OSC3. It can create much more rich and interesting sounds than the algorithmic per-voice-sync, since you can modulate the triggering OSC while modulation etc. By cross-sync/ringmod, I mean both at once, like above, cross-osc-syncing, but additionally also ringmod, just like it is available in Korg Radias, Microkorg XL etc. I think it is done in serial, I do not exactly know. Have a listen below (actually it is a too simple example). It can give nice dirt to the sync sound. Example sound: First the two OSCs plain, one OSC pitching down |
Yeah ringmod would still be a mixer thing, it comes after oscillator sync. From Korg Radias manual:: The above audio example was removed from SoundCloud, so here's one I cooked up in Reaktor: |
@baconpaul I think we should not do this one. Ever. It'd probably sound like crap. Close it? |
Well I think we could make it sound good clsssic to classic but otherwise and even then it would be very hard so I think I agree. |

and maybe adding cross-osc-sync and cross-osc-sync/ringmod
i've reached out to him asking about what it actually means.
