[Feature request] Microsoft Edge Browser Support #280
Comments
Hey there! The simple answer here is that this cannot be done until the identity API is supported in Edge. Tusk relies on Oauth for most providers. Once that feature is out of beta, it will be an easy port. |
Thanks for the info Brandon. Anyone wanting this can go vote on adding the identity API at the MS Edge UserVoice site here: https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/257854-microsoft-edge-developer/suggestions/17882014-support-chrome-identity-api |
Thanks for the thoughtful response on that issue. Given Microsoft is swapping the rendering engine in Edge, I imagine extension support will be low on their list for a while. Hopefully one day.... |
We need to be patient. Edge will (presumably) support Chrome extensions once the rendering engine swap is done. PS: Great work that you guys are doing with Tusk! |
@subdavis I can reach out to the edge team to see if I can move things along |
@bowerscd honestly if you could just implement that feature real quick I'd appreciate it. |
@bowerscd , Any chance you were able to reach out to Edge team and if so, hear anything back at all? |
I was not able to hear anything productive back. With the announcement of edge being powered by chromium that exe22 mentioned earlier they are booked developer-time wise; for something that will probably be fixed when the switch happens. |
Love what you are doing with Tusk! Love that you have versions specifically for Chrome and Firefox!
Any chance that you may consider porting to Microsoft Edge as well? For work I generally use multiple web browsers on most days. My personal mobile device has multiple browsers as well. Adding Tusk as an Edge extension would be just fantastic!
In addition to techy and developer types who frequently use multiple web browsers, some people still only use (or can use) the built-in web browser, which for many home and corporate users, is Microsoft Edge.
I am not a developer and don't know if Edge has enough support in their API for Tusk to function or not? If the API support is there, looks like it could be a fairly simple conversion???

Porting Chrome Extension to Edge
Thanks for the consideration!
