I work primarily on open-source projects, for free.

At the time of writing, my most popular project, @zenfs/core, has almost 100,000 downloads. I've spent well over 1000 working on it, and have gotten $0 in funding. To make even close to enough money for a decent living, I would only need $.05 per download- a small price to pay for the amount of work I've put into this project.

And this is only one project. I work on multiple other projects, putting in over 20 hours a week, essentially a part-time job.
