Hi, I'm the founder of Piston, a modular game engine written in Rust! I am also the creator of Dyon, a rusty dynamically typed scripting language. I also run the research branch of the Piston project, AdvancedResearch.
Piston has been in development since 2014, with the core architecture almost stabilized. Now it is time to finish stabilization and expand the ecosystem with more useful libraries!
Funding will go to:
- Stabilization of core architecture
- Stabilization of 2D graphics abstraction
- Maintenance of the Piston ecosystem
- Extra funding will go to researching UI for Rust based on Nano-ECS. You can follow this development at @PistonDeveloper on Twitter!
Research helps providing real-world feedback on the design choices in the architecture. This is done with an open mind, aware of unforeseen obstacles. The choice of architecture is about finding right trade-offs, including modularity and stability of the ecosystem. When I face a difficult problem, I use mathematics and logic to help finding better solutions.
2 sponsors have funded bvssvni’s work.
