Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
We do receive, time-to-time, requests to update documents (e.g., WG notes) originally developed by a WG that, by now, is closed. The original documents may have been developed using respec; touching those documents through today's respec becomes problematic if the group's short name is not included in https://respec.org/w3c/groups/

Describe the solution you'd like
There should be some official route to easily update that list or, alternatively, respecConfig should offer the possibility to add an item dynamically.

Presumably https://respec.org/w3c/groups/ is (or should be) generated from some API. Where is the ultimate source for this list?

The list is maintained via API in respec-web-services repo. Not sure why closed groups aren't included there, I don't see any check to filter them out. Will look into it soon.

@iherman Can you share with me the name of the group(s) in question?

Ah, I see. The W3C API has some groups at top-level while some groups are part of task torces. Task force member groups are not included in https://respec.org/w3c/groups/ list as of now. Will fix.

regular groups (included)

vs nested groups (not included as of now):

csvw one is due to #279, but we found another bug with this report 😄

Manually triggered update script on respec.org. csvw is now listed there. (The script hasn't run for quite a while, so groups recently added to the W3C API were missing).

Closing as duplicate of #279 now.

@sidvishnoi the "csvw" listed there was from before, it's the CSV on the Web Community Group, not the old Working Group. I should be able to use "wg/csvw" in the configuration, but I can't.

Right now, W3C API doesn't list closed groups. See w3c/w3c-api#68
But we can access specific group info via other endpoint. I'll remove the restriction that limits queried group to be within the list available via API.
