->appand() does not work

I have an accesor in model and it is not mentioned in $append array cause it is little expensive to count it. So I need to append this accessor vie append() in query builder. If I user $append property in model it works fine. But as I want to use append() in Spatie query builder it does not. It does not throw any arror but it also does not retunr the property in json.
